WIND Mobile Cell Booster for WIND – Any Recommendations?

I left WIND in January due to the appalling data speeds I was getting, my wife didn’t as data wasn’t as important to her at that time. Since then she’s finding she has to rely on data more for work and despite a new tower 2KMs away, there’s not much improvement inside the house. Outside is another story.

We live in a house that was built in the 1940s using double brick construction and most of the interior walls are also made using brick. Building penetration has always been an issue no matter what carrier we’ve used in the past so I’m looking into a cell signal booster and was wondering if anyone had any experience using one and whether they had any recommendations. My house is small, maybe 1,900 sq ft on two floors so the booster doesn’t have to be over whelmingly powerful. I only need a decent cell signal on one floor, so less than 1,000 sq ft.

Someone suggested the ZBoost YX540-CP, that seems compact enough and will certainly give us enough coverage, but I know nothing about the brand nor anything about its performance. It does work with T-Mobile so I’m assuming it does with WIND too.

Any advice and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There were a few people a while ago on DSLReports who were discussing these devices. Let me see if I can find it: Cellular Repeater Installation

That is one of the discussions. I know there was at least one other as well. Anyway, I hope that helps!

Thanks for this, I’ll check it out. Got dragged away on business so sorry about the tardiness of my reply.

      No worries 🙂

Just be sure to check any hardware purchased for the correct bands!

That was the first thing I checked, once bitten trice shy sort of thing 😉 The ZBoost works with T-Mobile’s 3G network and doesn’t require unlocking. I don’t think I need anything quite as high powered as the set up you sent me, the signal outside my house is actually pretty decent, it’s inside where it struggles. Just needs that extra boost.

One of the best repeater solutions available is the Cel-Fi Nextivity Cel-fi

It’s placed near a window, with another unit placed in a central area of the house providing much better signal strength….The best part is no wires

The problem with using an amplifier like this is that they will amplify everything….even the interference from their own internal antennae

Although some people have had success with this type of setup, unless you have a great donor signal outdoors, you will more than likely not have success with any amplifier.

  • Hello, would anyone care to tell me how to make my cell phone work inside my home? I’m using bell. The moment I enter the home, it says “no service”.
