Anyone had any success getting one of these over to Canada? I’m intrigued by the Sailfish OS and would love to give it a go but right now they only ship within the Eurozone.

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz (Bands 1/8)
    4G LTE 800/1800/2600 Mhz (Bands 3/7/20)*

would work on the rogers edge network, but not HSPA or LTE

Thanks, Carl. Yeah, I was aware of the bands but I was more interested in testing out the OS to see if it will be worth considering if/when they have a broader range of devices available. I read recently that they’re planning on more device releases sometime this year and with the extra financing they just announced that’s looking more sure than it ever has done before. I’ve taken a look at Ubuntu and once again found the devices disappointing, trying to find something that’s still available is a task unto itself, but the biggest beef with me is they have an announcement on their website from May 2015 saying new devices were imminent and still no sign or even a hint of what they’d be like. Managed to check a Tizen out for a few days on a business trip to India last year and that looked promising but once again the crappy device let the whole experience down and the minimal bands would make it hard to use in North America.

I’m just bored with current OSes. I like BB10, I find it fits my personal and especially my business needs to a T but since the launch of the Priv all we’re going to get is maintenance updates from now on until it officially becomes unsupported in a couple of years. I’ve never been a fan of Android, I’ve never understood why I should make 5 gestures for a certain app/function where 1 or 2 should suffice. iOS, quite frankly, I don’t mind at all but I can’t stand the whole ‘proprietorness’, not just for apps but for peripheral hardware too. The less said about iTunes the better also.

From what I’ve read about Sailfish and how it runs I’m really intrigued. Like really intrigued. And I’m willing to put up with crappy hardware for a few months to evaluate it properly.
